  1. 0:00Hi, I'm Jason and I'm going to walk you through how to create your first room.
  2. 0:04You can create rooms on iPhone, iPad, and desktop web. For this tutorial I'll show
  3. 0:10an iPad but the options are almost exactly the same regardless of what you
  4. 0:14choose. So the first thing I'm going to do is tap the plus button in the bottom
  5. 0:18center of the screen and then I can choose from a rotating set of starter
  6. 0:22templates made by other users or I can create a room from scratch and that's
  7. 0:28I'll choose in this case. Now before we add anything to the room, I'm going to first change
  8. 0:33the room's colors, and I can do that by selecting a different color theme. Or I can adjust individual
  9. 0:39colors in the inspector panel. For instance, maybe I want to change the background colors.
  10. 0:45There are some other room level settings here, including the ability to hide your walls and the
  11. 0:50floor. The next thing I want to do is to add some things to the room. So to do that, I'll tap the
  12. 0:56plus icon in the bottom left and that will open up the Thing Library that
  13. 1:01includes over 15,000 free 3D models. I can drag and drop things right into my
  14. 1:07room and I can also favorite things by tapping this star. In terms of placing
  15. 1:13things, first tap a thing to select it and then drag your finger or cursor
  16. 1:18around to move it around the room. To change its vertical height you can just
  17. 1:23drag this vertical arrow. Or if you want more precision, you can enter exact XYZ coordinates,
  18. 1:30or drag up and down on any of the position or rotation fields.
  19. 1:35If you want to edit an individual thing, you can enter the model editor by tapping the cube icon.
  20. 1:40In here you can add blocks, paint them, extrude, or remove them. You can also submit your own
  21. 1:48original things by tapping this up arrow. If at any point you make a mistake, you can easily undo
  22. 1:54with this undo icon. When you're ready, you can preview what your room looks like by tapping this
  23. 1:59play icon at the top. Now, one of the cool things about rooms is that the 3D models you get from the
  24. 2:05Thing library can come with special abilities. So this lamp, for instance, is tappable, and when I
  25. 2:11tap it the light turns on or off and it makes a sound. Let's see how this was
  26. 2:16done. So we'll head back to edit mode, select the lamp, and let's head into the
  27. 2:22Actions Editor, which is this button that looks like an atom. In here you can see
  28. 2:27that there's an on tap trigger that does two things. It toggles the light and it
  29. 2:32plays a sound. And if I exit the Actions Editor, you'll notice that there's also
  30. 2:36this section in the properties panel called light where I can adjust the
  31. 2:41color, intensity, and range of the light that's emitted from this lamp. To navigate
  32. 2:47around the room while editing, you can use a mix of pinching to zoom, one finger
  33. 2:52dragging to rotate, and two finger dragging to pan. If you ever want to
  34. 2:58reset the camera, an easy trick is just to go to play mode and back to edit mode.
  35. 3:03To add music to your room, you have a few options. The first is you could add an
  36. 3:08action to a thing from the Actions Editor. Or if you go back to the Room Level Settings,
  37. 3:13which you can do either by tapping outside of the room or by tapping this icon, then
  38. 3:19you'll see an option to add background music there.
  39. 3:22Finally, once you're happy with your room, you can tap Save As and give it a unique name.
  40. 3:28If you want your room to be discoverable, set its privacy to Public. Then it will show
  41. 3:33up in the Home Feeds for other people using the app.
  42. 3:36And that pretty much covers basic editing in rooms.
