  1. 0:04GPT-6 Astra is here. It's our latest frontier model and the best model in the world for tasks
  2. 0:09where raw intelligence matters. For my own projects, Astra feels like working with an
  3. 0:14experienced collaborator. I'm able to hand it bigger, less well-defined tasks with minimal
  4. 0:19handholding. And whether you're coding, writing, designing, or just working on things that require
  5. 0:25a little bit more intellectual horsepower, you'll find that Astra delivers great results,
  6. 0:30often on the first attempt.
  7. 0:31So let's talk about the model's new capabilities, starting with computer use.
  8. 0:36You might already be familiar with computer use.
  9. 0:38It's a capability that lets a model use a computer or browser like you or I would.
  10. 0:43With Astra, the model is more accurate and more efficient when using a computer.
  11. 0:47It's easiest to show this in the ChatGPT app, but Astra's improved skills are also available
  12. 0:52in the API.
  13. 0:53I'm going to have it illustrate where I'm standing.
  14. 0:56I'll take a photo, then send it to Codex to paint.
  15. 0:59Use Krita to paint this picture in the style of Van Gogh
  16. 1:02and add the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.
  17. 1:06Astra has to keep track of the picture I asked for
  18. 1:08while working through the app's controls.
  19. 1:10It's using screenshots to see what's happening
  20. 1:12while keeping the app in the background,
  21. 1:14meaning I can stay focused on other work.
  22. 1:16The model is able to paint a hopefully recognizable picture
  23. 1:19are far faster and far better than I could have done.
  24. 1:22The same ability can help with the workflows developers
  25. 1:25use every day, whether you're filling out forms for an API
  26. 1:28key or performing QA on a mobile app.
  27. 1:31When it comes to creativity and knowledge work,
  28. 1:33we've also seen Astra produce significantly better outputs
  29. 1:36than previous models.
  30. 1:37We took several prompts of demos, games, and tools
  31. 1:40we've built with previous models and rebuilt them
  32. 1:42at different reasoning levels.
  33. 1:44Across the board, Astra has more attention to detail,
  34. 1:47better understanding of the user's prompt, and can build more sophisticated outputs.
  35. 1:52In particular, it excels at building 3D models.
  36. 1:55I've seen it make incredible renderings of gardens, shipyards, animals, cityscapes, even Dyson spheres.
  37. 2:01And in my own experience, I've found Astra's outputs, from slideshows to essays,
  38. 2:06significantly easier to read and work with than other models I've tried.
  39. 2:10Its personality feels more natural to me, especially in the back and forth when I'm giving it feedback.
  40. 2:14As you might expect, Astra excels at long-running tasks.
  41. 2:19And as you give models longer, more involved pieces of work, you need better ways to work with them.
  42. 2:24That's why we're bringing asynchronous tool calling and steering to the responses API.
  43. 2:29First, async tools. With asynchronous tool calling, the model can keep working on other parts of a task while a tool call runs.
  44. 2:35When the results are available, it can use that information to continue.
  45. 2:39you. Steering lets you give the model new context or change its direction while a response
  46. 2:44is still in progress. If you view steering in Codex, this should feel familiar. Let's
  47. 2:50go ahead and give the model a task and then change what we're asking for while it's working.
  48. 2:55You can see it pick up my new instruction and adjust its next steps while the tool it
  49. 2:59already started continues running. I can change the direction without having to cancel the
  50. 3:04running tool or start the task over.
  51. 3:06And I get the final result with the new context incorporated.
  52. 3:10Astra is now available in ChatGPT, Codex, and the API.
  53. 3:13Try it on your most challenging tasks
  54. 3:15and take a close look at the results.
