  1. 0:00Many developers are using AI agents to run automated workflows.
  2. 0:03Those AI agents can autonomously do things like review pull requests or file bug reports
  3. 0:10or even triage issues.
  4. 0:11As part of this process, it's become common practice for developers to instruct their
  5. 0:16AI agents to attach proof of work to a PR just to make sure the agent has actually done
  6. 0:21what it said it would.
  7. 0:23Since most agentic workflows rely on the GitHub CLI, before today, you could only have this
  8. 0:28proof of work displayed as text in a PR. Or maybe a developer would find some roundabout way to try
  9. 0:36and get a video or an image attached to a PR. In this video today, I'm going to show you how this
  10. 0:42changes with the new GitHub CLI attach flag. I'll show you how you can actually give your AI agents
  11. 0:49the power to be able to take a proof of work screenshot or video and attach that easily to a
  12. 0:56PR using this new feature. For this example, we can pretend we're a developer helping to maintain
  13. 1:01a website for Mona's cafe. We will start by creating a skill. I've created a simple skill.md
  14. 1:09file to help an AI agent monitor and fix bugs. The skill gives the agent the instructions that
  15. 1:17it needs to be able to sweep through the website using Playwright, and for any bugs that it finds,
  16. 1:23take screenshots of the failure, file a GitHub issue, and then fix the root cause of that issue.
  17. 1:31And finally, it should open up a PR with before and after screenshots attached. This allows a
  18. 1:38human reviewer to easily be able to know what the issue was that was diagnosed and how the agent
  19. 1:44actually fixed it. To be able to actually use this skill in an AI agent, I'll go ahead and switch over
  20. 1:50and open up my automation, click on templates, and then look for the specific skill that I just
  21. 1:57created in the repo in Mona's Cafe. I'll create a new automation and I can decide how often I want
  22. 2:05this skill to run. In this case, I'm going to manually trigger this skill so that we can try
  23. 2:11it out today. I'll say monitor and fix bugs. If we want, we can give the agent additional context,
  24. 2:18but we don't really need to do that right now.
  25. 2:20So I'm going to go ahead and create this automation and then I'm going to trigger the automation to run.
  26. 2:28And we can see exactly what the agent is doing as it runs this automation.
  27. 2:33So we can see that the agent has loaded in the skill.
  28. 2:37It's saying that it's loading in the skill.
  29. 2:40It's going to start with some checks to understand the repo.
  30. 2:45and we can see some of the calls that it's doing. It's sweeping the site as we can see here.
  31. 2:53We can see that it's successfully been able to open up a browser to check through Playwright
  32. 3:00and it's found one bug in the menu. We can see a screenshot, filed an issue which we can open,
  33. 3:08menu prices rendered as none and we can see the screenshot has successfully been added. To be able
  34. 3:16to upload that screenshot it did use the attach flag as we can see here to upload evidence as
  35. 3:23expected and so it's going ahead now and creating a fix for this bug. We can see it opening up the
  36. 3:33page, going ahead, capturing a screenshot of the fixed page.
  37. 3:38It's got on the screenshot.
  38. 3:39It's going to attach it to a PR.
  39. 3:43And here again, we can see the attach flag used to add in evidence.
  40. 3:49We can see the issue beforehand.
  41. 3:52The agent was able to attach it using our attach flag and also leave a comment
  42. 3:57with the fix and a link to the fixed PR with the code.
  43. 4:03And here we can see a before and after screenshot added in as well.
  44. 4:07So there you have it, an example of how you can take an AI agent and have it attach proof of work to a PR using the new GitHub CLI attach flag.
