The steal of the week

One thing worth copying

00:03

Break the centred product-window lockup by pushing the window off-centre and letting a high-contrast backdrop fill the opposite third, so each demo gets its own compositional shape rather than repeating the same floating-card formula.

Window sits in the left-centre of the frame, occupying roughly half the width and two thirds of the height, with the space backdrop filling the right third and the corners. The internal layout is a left settings column and a right visualisation of concentric orbital rings. The planet arc on the left and the starfield on the right frame the window asymmetrically, which is the first time the product shots have broken their centred lockup.

Tips

Three things the measurements say

Every one is this week against the whole library, because a number on its own is trivia and a number against a baseline is a finding.

01

PACE

This week cut every 2.4s

The library's median gap between shot changes is 2.4s, and this week landed on 2.4s — near enough the same. That stability is the useful part: the pace of a launch film is a convention, not a style choice, and a cut rate well outside it will read as a decision whether or not you meant it to.

02

FRAMING

Nobody stands bottom centre

Across every measured face in the library, 39% sit centre and only 1% sit bottom centre. That is not taste, it is the lower third being reserved for captions and the logo — so a presenter placed there is competing with your own titles. Measured across 79,856 faces, not eyeballed.

03

COVERAGE

The week's default shot was the medium presenter

12,597 of this week's frames are a medium presenter, more than any other kind. It is the safe middle, which is why it is the default. The films that are remembered usually have one shot that is not.
