  2. 0:04you can describe the interface you want and have it built for you in seconds?
  3. 0:08That's the idea behind canvases.
  4. 0:10A canvas is a fully customizable surface and the best part is you don't build it yourself,
  5. 0:15you ask the agent and it builds it for you.
  6. 0:18By the end of this video, that'll feel completely natural.
  7. 0:21Let's do it live.
  8. 0:26A canvas, sometimes called a canvas extension, is a completely customizable interface, a surface
  9. 0:32you and the agent share. And when I say customizable, I really mean it. A canvas can be almost anything
  10. 0:38you can picture. A Kanban board, a triage board, a release checklist, a dashboard, a custom form,
  11. 0:44even a spreadsheet. It's not a fixed set of panels you're stuck with. It's a UI shaped to your exact
  12. 0:50workflow and it's bi-directional which is the key word. The agent updates the canvas as it works
  13. 0:56and you use its own controls, buttons, cards and filters to change things directly. You're both
  14. 1:02looking at the same live surface like a shared whiteboard you can both write on at once. Here's
  15. 1:07the part that makes canvases so approachable. You don't design or code one by hand, you just ask and
  16. 1:13the agent builds it for you.
  17. 1:15You just use the Create Canvas skill
  18. 1:18and describe in plain English what you want,
  19. 1:21what people should be able to do,
  20. 1:22and what the agent should be able to do.
  21. 1:24For our Tailspin Toys work,
  22. 1:26I'll ask for a Release Notes Canvas to include
  23. 1:28any new feature work,
  24. 1:29including what we did in our sessions.
  25. 1:31The agent reads that and builds the whole interface,
  26. 1:34then opens it in the right side panel.
  27. 1:36No files to write, no layout to fiddle with.
  28. 1:39Now we have a custom tool I
  29. 1:40described in a single sentence sitting right there,
  30. 1:43ready to use. And you're not locked into that first version, you can shape it into almost
  31. 1:47anything. Just keep describing what you want, add a column, add a filter, pull in your open pull
  32. 1:53requests, or turn the whole thing into a checklist for your day. The agent revises the canvas to
  33. 1:58match. Because the entire UI is generated from your description, there's really no fixed menu
  34. 2:03of options. If you can describe the workflow, you could probably build a canvas for it. And if you'd
  35. 2:07rather not start from a blank slate, the community has shared ready-made canvases and collections
  36. 2:12like Awesome Copilot, you can drop in and then customize the very same way.
  37. 2:17However it starts, your canvas is saved as an extension in your project to share with
  38. 2:21the team or in your personal settings just for you, so it's there next time.
  39. 2:26The whole point of a canvas is people and agents working on the same surface at the
  40. 2:30same time.
  41. 2:30When you click a button or move a card, the shared state changes for both of you instantly.
  42. 2:35There's no send step, no waiting for sync.
  43. 2:38And it works the other way too.
  44. 2:39You can ask the agent to use the canvas's own capabilities like adding a card or moving work
  45. 2:45so it acts through the very same controls you do.
  46. 2:48That symmetry is what makes it feel like collaboration rather than command and wait.
  47. 2:53So that's the idea.
  48. 2:54A canvas is a fully customizable interface and the agent builds it for you from a plain
  49. 2:59English description.
  50. 3:00Almost any workflow you can describe, you can turn into a surface you and the agent
  51. 3:04share and steer together.
  52. 3:06If it still feels abstract, that's totally normal.
  53. 3:09it clicks the moment you make one.
  54. 3:11So try it, open a session, run Create Canvas,
  55. 3:14and describe a simple board for something you're working on right now.
