- 0:00In this video, I'll show you how to remove silences in Premiere Pro using FireCut.
- 0:03In the timeline, I have a 22-minute tutorial which you want to cut,
- 0:06so I'll go into the top right corner and click on Remove Silences.
- 0:08Here, we basically have two options.
- 0:10We have the Basic and we have the Advanced.
- 0:11In the Basic, we're able to control the tightness of the cutting,
- 0:14so if you want to go very tight,
- 0:16there's not going to be much silence between the sentences,
- 0:19and if you go for a loose cut,
- 0:20there's going to be a lot of silence between the cuts.
- 0:22You're able to select which audio tracks you want to cut,
- 0:25so this is Audio 1, 2, and 3.
- 0:26You can do full sequence or the in and out point,
- 0:29So if you don't want to do the whole video, for example, you want to do everything from to the left of the playhead
- 0:33You have to press on O, it's going to make a selection and by pressing on I you can select the in point
- 0:38And then if you want you can move it around
- 0:40So by clicking I and O you're able to select the in and out points
- 0:43If you want to deselect it, press on option X
- 0:45By default you have the mp3 format
- 0:47If mp3 is taking too long, you should switch to WAV
- 0:50For the cutting algorithm, rapid if you go for 10 plus minutes
- 0:53And originally if you go for less than 10 minutes
- 0:55The difference between two is basically the speed of the cut
- 0:58So if I go for a tight cut, click on go. It's going to detect the silences and then it's going to make cuts.
- 1:05So we just got 622 seconds or in other words 10 minutes of silences.
- 1:10Now if you don't like this we can click on undo, click on confirm and we can go into the advanced tab.
- 1:14Here we have a similar thing in terms of the audio tracks, the scope and the format.
- 1:18Click on analyze.
- 1:19Now if you're someone like me who likes precision then this is going to be super useful.
- 1:23The silence threshold is basically if something is quieter than 31 decibels it's going to cut it.
- 1:27Personally, I don't set it manually because the auto detect is really good.
- 1:31Usually, I set the minimum silence duration as the default.
- 1:33I like the ignore sound shorter than specific time
- 1:36because people usually produce little sounds with their mouths.
- 1:39And if you don't want to have those really small cuts,
- 1:41this is going to be super useful.
- 1:43So I usually put this to 150,
- 1:45which is going to be like three frames if you use 30 frames per second.
- 1:49For the padding, once again,
- 1:50this is just how much space is going to be between the sentences.
- 1:53I like my cuts to be very, very tight.
- 1:55So I usually put this to something like 20 and by clicking this button is just going to be updated together.
- 2:02You can also offset the cuts.
- 2:03It's a professional cinematic technique that allows us to create the J and L cuts.
- 2:07For the cutting algorithm, once again, depends on the length of your videos, less than 10 minutes or more than 10 minutes.
- 2:12So we detected 164 cuts, which we can go into specific cuts to be able to see which cuts there are.
- 2:19But there's no need to do it manually, so I just go ahead and click on go.
- 2:24So now the video is cut and we are ready to move on to the next step.
