  1. 0:00Today, I want to give a quick walkthrough of Warp Agent CLI and some of the cool infra and
  2. 0:06features we built to make it especially useful for developers who spend their workflow end-to-end
  3. 0:12in the CLI itself. When you start the Warp Agent CLI, every single agent and the session
  4. 0:18it has been running owns the entire PTOI and is a terminal session. What this means is any change
  5. 0:27to the environment itself, to the session itself.
  6. 0:29Like setting an environment variable
  7. 0:31CD into a different directory
  8. 0:33is fully persisted throughout the agent run.
  9. 0:36To give an example,
  10. 0:38right now I'm in the run directory actually.
  11. 0:40I want to make some changes to our docs.
  12. 0:43I can go CD.
  13. 0:45We also build tab completion as well.
  14. 0:48So I can do docs.
  15. 0:50And this will bring me to actually our docs repo.
  16. 0:54and this has persisted not through just through this one command,
  17. 0:57but to the entire session.
  18. 0:59Instead of just having an ad hoc command ROM,
  19. 1:02we actually have the full ability to render long-running commands
  20. 1:05as well as off-screen commands.
  21. 1:07So if I do get diff to see what are the changes are in here,
  22. 1:11I can bring up the entire off-screen within the agent terminal session,
  23. 1:16and I can just view it as if I'm in a native terminal.
  24. 1:20So I think this change just looks good to me.
  25. 1:24I could do get add, get commit, and this entire thing will be rendered again in the outscreen.
  26. 1:35I can just use vim natively within this window, add environment variable, and I can use a terminal agent here.
  27. 1:45It'll say, help me finish this commit message.
  28. 1:52for the fun of it.
  29. 1:54Let's see if the agent can do it.
  30. 1:56Okay, it's able to look at the actual content of the code
  31. 2:00and actually dispatch the right set of commits
  32. 2:04and overwrite my message completely,
  33. 2:06which is totally fine by me.
  34. 2:08So next I want to show the ability to even like use SSH.
  35. 2:12So the way I'll think about our entire CI itself
  36. 2:17is I won't think about it as like an ad hoc run
  37. 2:20in your existing terminal session.
  38. 2:23It's more functioning as a terminal multiplexer
  39. 2:26where you can dispatch any sessions within it.
  40. 2:30So I could totally do things like SSH
  41. 2:34into a different dev box.
  42. 2:37And because it owns a PTY end-to-end
  43. 2:40and it has its own sessions model,
  44. 2:42I will start a new session
  45. 2:45within this remote dev box, actually.
  46. 2:47I have everything ready now.
  47. 2:49So I can run ls.
  48. 2:50I'll go to docs.
  49. 2:52Let's say I want to actually make some changes in this remote environment.
  50. 2:57I'll just say, hey, can you add build by work at the start of our agent CLI documentation?
  51. 3:07So I can invoke the agent here.
  52. 3:09And because of the persistence, it's going to run all of these commands
  53. 3:16and operate within this remote environment.
  54. 3:19So now it's done.
  55. 3:20You can see that it ran some commands.
  56. 3:23It found the right file and makes the edit in the file I actually wanted to.
  57. 3:28I could just run get this here just to confirm.
  58. 3:31Yeah, perfect.
  59. 3:32That's what I want.
  60. 3:33So I think a couple of cool things about the agent CRI is,
  61. 3:39one, you don't really have to worry about
  62. 3:41whether you're starting your CLI in the right repo
  63. 3:44or in the right file system
  64. 3:47or even the right local machine.
  65. 3:49You can always just easily switch
  66. 3:51between different contexts as you go.
  67. 3:53The other thing that's really cool
  68. 3:56is you don't really need to worry about it
  69. 3:58whether you're running a command in the CLI or not.
  70. 4:01You can run anything like a long running command
  71. 4:04or outscreen command
  72. 4:05and it should work exactly like out of the box
  73. 4:08with a native terminal.
  74. 4:09so yeah this is some cool stuff that we build with our CLI on top of our state-of-the-art agent
